Areopolis is a village in West Mani, at Lakonia Prefecture in the Peloponneses. At the times of Ottoman occupation it was called Tsimova.

Historical village, which remained independent even in the Ottoman period, the birthplace of the Mavromichaleoi family. Is also the the center of the Municipality of Oitylos which has been declared as preserved and keeps to the traditional architecture and colours of Mani. In the past the Areopoli district of the Oitylos area in Lakonia, also included the villagesof Dryalia, Kouskouni, Krialinika, Lagokoili and Limeni. The population of Areopoli back in 1950 was 1.380 people and that of the whole community 1.940 people. According to the data from the Greek National Statistic Office (2001 census) it had 774 permanent residents.

Areopolis is built on a cliff above the natural and spacious port of Limeni. Its area is also famous for its excellent olive, cereals and noticeable cattle and animal industry. Also as said is the birthplace of the Mavromichaleoi family, whereas in Limeni there still exists today a tower which once belonged once to their clan.
